We had Hoban & Associates in our life for 5 years. We first saw Susan when our son was 4 years old. Hoban & Associates knew exactly what was needed for my son - an intensive ABA program. Once we all got to work on the program, he progressed quickly. He had made tremendous gains in things that I never thought he would be able to do and we still can't believe, to this day, how well our son is doing. We do know that it was mainly because Hoban & Associates was a huge part of his learning. Our son is 12 years old now and is doing fabulous! He is in public school with pull-outs for certain subjects. He has many friends and has become quite popular in school. I look back at some of the videos from his ABA program and can't believe it is the same kid!
Not only do they teach necessary life skills, socialization and academic skills, but they help parents in dealing with ASD. Our team became part of our family and I still, to this day, talk to everyone from Hoban & Associates. They really care.

Susan Hoban has been working with our daughter since she was first diagnosed with PDD-NOS in 2005. At first, we had no idea how blessed we were to be have Susan herself designing and overseeing our daughter's program. We quickly came to realize what a true advocate and amazing clinician Susan is, and how extremely insightful she is in her ability to develop new and creative ways to address our daughter's unique learning style, language issues and play and socialization needs when the standard protocols did not work. Susan's ability to train and lead the individual therapists who implement home programs and shadow children in typical preschool settings is exemplary. The individual therapists who worked with our daughter under Susan's tutelage were second to none. Many of them, under Susan's guidance and supervision, are now certified behavior specialists in their own rights, leading their own teams. To this day, we still maintain relationships with many of her former individual therapists and we know that Susan will be a part of our family long after she is no longer working with our daughter.
It is said that our children are not entitled to the "Cadillac" of programming, but our daughter was fortunate to have the "Rolls Royce" of home programs from the well-trained, experienced and dedicated professionals at Hoban and Associates. Today, our daughter is blossoming at a small school for children with learning differences, without the presence of a shadow and with a minimal amount of home programming, and we know that is not something that would ever have been possible without Hoban and Associates. It has been a long journey, and we still have a long way to go, but we are confident that our daughter will be able to live her life to the fullest extent possible because of Susan Hoban and her associates, and for that we will be grateful for the rest of our lives. Susan Hoban held our hand through play therapy which made an astounding difference in our household. She taught us right along with teaching our little guy. It wasn’t long before he was playing appropriately and happily with his toys in useful and meaningful ways. She always made herself available to answer questions along the way.
Our consultant became part of our family in no time. The team meetings were brain storming sessions mixed with tears and laughter. K. started with Hoban and Associates when he was 2 years old after being diagnosed with PDD-NOS by Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Pediatric Developmental Division. K. was not talking or communicating with us at all and was unable to ask for his basic wants and needs. K. began an ABA Program with Hoban and Associates and over the course of time has made tremendous progress moving from sign language to full verbal communication. K. is now at 8 years old attending public school and receives assistance in Math, Integrated Language Arts, and assistance interacting with his peers. People that knew our son when he was more prone to unpredictable behaviors now comment on his calm and happy demeanor. He is now 11 years old and doing well and we are still working with Susan as a consultant to monitor our son's progress. When your child receives an ASD diagnosis, it’s a little bit like finding yourself in a strange land where you don’t speak the language. Everything is overwhelming---the vocabulary of the developmental pediatricians, the ins and outs of the Early Intervention system, and the challenge of teaching your child how to do those things that other boys and girls his age seem to do so easily.
We came to Susan Hoban shortly after our son P. was diagnosed with PDD-NOS. Like most families, we began our journey with fear, confusion, and uncertainty. Susan was the first person we met after P’s diagnosis who was able to give us the clarity and direction we needed. She was candid and sympathetic when she spoke about P’s weaknesses. But she was also quick to pick up on the things he did well and showed us how to capitalize on these strengths. We have found Hoban and Associates to be a professional practice. Staff is very approachable not pretentious at all. They operate on a high standard of accountability for their work. Their ultimate goal and focus is always to have the child reach her/his maximum potential whatever that may be for each individual child. They always include the parents or family as part of the equation in the child's treatment. that was so important to us. Also, with our child their approach was eclectic in that whatever worked for each child is the way to go. No child fits into one mold and they are well aware of that fact.
